Nilika & Paul Kilimanjaro: dog shelter in SriLanka

Hi, Paul and I are climbing mount Kilimanjaro and fundraising for Happy Street Paws, a dog shelter based in Sri Lanka. 

As many know rescue dogs are very close to our hearts: we have 8 at home who keeps us on our toes. Many say we have changed their lives, but really it is them that have changed ours. The thankful look in their eyes, tail wags and paw cuddles makes it all worthwhile. 

 The rescue journey has shown us how the voiceless feel pain and their unconditional love and faith in humans. Our 8 have had horrible life experiences; they have been significantly mistreated by humans but still has the capacity to trust and love me and Paul. 

 We want to make life better for more dogs, and support a dog shelter called Happy Street Paws run by a very committed lady called Krishanthi. She cares for 61 dogs at her home and feeds many more in the area. 

 She needs support to provide food, shelter and veterinary care. When ready the dogs can be adopted but the demand for street dogs is very low in Sri Lanka. Without her these dogs would be on the streets, likely injured and hurt without access to food or vet care. We would sincerely appreciate any help towards Happy Street Paws: it’s makes a huge difference.

Our climb is over 8 days, using the Lemosho route. We have been training, climbing the three peaks in UK and Yorkshire and hope to summit avoiding altitude sickness.

Any help towards reaching our target to support this wonderful dogs shelter will be really appreciated.
