Hannah Sky Memorial

Donation protected

Dear family and friends of Hannah Sky- it is with a heavy heart we come to tell you that our beloved sister has passed away last night, January 13. We extend our deepest condolences to her ‘ohana. We will be turning this medical fundraiser into a memorial fundraiser for Hannah Sky. Please continue to donate and share. Her family is faced with funeral expenses and her daughter in Hawaii needs ongoing support as a new mom who will no longer have Hannahʻs disability income to help with rent and bills.

In addition to this GoFundMe, the recent online auction for Hannah was a great success with over $2600 raised to help our friend get through this incredibly difficult time by raising her spirits and raising funds at the same time. None of us could imagine she would be gone less than 2 weeks after the closing of the auction. The auction page is now a memorial page for Hannah, please join/visit/share and post your favorite photos and memories of Hannah there.

Aloha friends and family of Hannah-

As you may know, this dear woman is facing a lot of suffering and uncertainty right now. Many of us may feel powerless to do anything in the face of her battle with aggressive cancer (during a global pandemic and economic recession no less) but one tangible way we can rally around her is by donating and sharing this campaign. Hannah faces a long and uncertain journey with her health and finances, and this will do much to buoy her spirits so that of all the stresses she is facing, money doesn’t have to be added to that.

In Hannah’s words, “I was first diagnosed in 2015 with 3b squamous cell carcinoma cervical cancer. I had a radical hysterectomy, chemo, and radiation. I was clear for 2 years, then slowly over the past 3 years have had spread to my lymph. No treatment was offered and I felt rather good. A couple weeks ago I had a scan that shows wide spread metastasis... I saw my oncologist recently. I have so much anxiety. I have looked online at research studies and talked to a different doc in the office. They had me see a neurologist and Ear Nose and Throat specialist because I'm having vision loss. Next is a pulmonologist because I have wheezing and "groundglass obscurity " in my left lung. I could tell something wasn't ok in December with my vision but they gave me migraine meds which kind of helped. Wasn't until I fell and hurt myself they did a ct and saw all the enlarged lymph. Then a PET scan that confirms metastasis. None of the studies I read give me hope this is treatable. My head is spinning. Next steps are a biopsy and then decisions about treatment. I live alone and am really feeling this covid isolation in a big way.

I've been in the hospital a week now... I came in for pneumonia and coughing blood. Been getting iv antibiotics and breathing treatments round the clock, and I am improving.  While here I had another ct scan cause I haven't been able to poop and have been throwing up everything.  My last scan was in June and since then I have so many enlarged lymph they are pressing on my bowels and causing partial blockages. Sigh... I cant get the biopsy until the pneumonia is clear, and even then idk if theres a treatment that will help . I am scared about how much time I have before my body just gives up. I also have a swollen kidney and ureter on the scan. I dont even have energy to watch tv or color. I'm so sad mad about the whole thing. I just want more time. I want to see my grandchildren in Texas,  I haven't even met Kawehi and shes already 1. Lexi is about to have a baby in a few weeks.  I'm not ready for this!”

To add insult to injury, Hannah was denied disability income earlier this year, not because she didn’t qualify but because of COVID-19, she couldn’t get in to the appointments to validate her claims.  She is fighting the denial but there are no guarantees that she will be approved or receive back pay.

Reaching the fundraising goal of $10,000 would mean that Hannah can find a place to live closer to Hilo where she hopes to seek treatment. It means that she could pursue chiropractic treatments, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and other alternative modalities that are not covered by insurance.

Please join us in supporting Hannah by donating and sharing. Thank you in advance!
