Hana Hou Hospitality - Lahaina Fire Fund

We are grateful for the outpouring of support for our ohanas. In the days since we started this GoFundMe we realize that the people of Lahaina will need the support of the world for months, and most likely years to come. Hana Hou Hospitality is dedicated to working hard to help our employees. There are nearly 200 staff combined in the restaurants that have been located, with more than half left without a home, and some still searching for their family members. The pictures below are of our staff at shelters and donation areas where we were able to come together. We smile because we are happy to be safe and together. Our tears are still flowing for all that have lost loved ones and everything they own.

Hana Hou Hospitality consists of Lahaina, Maui restaurants Māla Ocean Tavern, Down The Hatch, Duckine, Breakwall Shave Ice Co., and Pizza Paradiso… Māla Ocean Tavern, Duckine, and Paradiso still stand and we hope to service the community as soon as we are able. Down The Hatch and Breakwall Shave Ice Co. have been lost but we will rebuild those one day.

Our mission is to assist our incredible staff and their Ohanas in this time, with 100% of these funds aiding our employees displaced. Mahalo nui loa for your support and aloha.

The fires on Maui have displaced hundreds of families. We are raising funds to make sure that families have housing and necessities. We have already begun the process to build a minimum of 8 tiny homes on private land. Money will go towards the building of these basic structures.

Funds will go directly to building tiny homes for the families, along with aiding other needs that they have. We have already been purchasing generators, gasoline, compost toilets, food, drywall, doors, windows, water heaters, etc.

Down The Hatch and Breakwall Shave Ice Co. have burned to the ground. Māla Ocean Tavern and Duckine are remarkably still standing but they are in the barricaded zone, and we have no idea when we will be allowed to get back in the buildings. We hope to re-open someday, but at this time, we do not have those answers.

The Lahaina community is forever changed and the outpouring of support has begun to aid the thousands in need. We want to help rebuild the community of Lahaina! Areas above Lahaina, including Kaanapali, Honokowai, Kahana, Napili, and Kapalua have regained power and we hope that soon people will be able. to revisit these areas. West Maui, Upcountry, and Kihei were all affected by these fires, but much of Maui is still open for people to visit. Please respect the Aina (the land), and the Kama'aina (the people of the land) when you return to the beautiful island of Maui, and we hope you do. Tourism is what drives this economy which is still recovering from Covid. Now is the time to help the people that have made your stay on Maui so special.

Mahalo nui loa for all that have reached out and that are praying across the world. The devastation is catastrophic and from the ashes, we have hope and will rebuild stronger. With love and aloha.

From our hearts, we thank the people providing the supplies and labor to make this happen.
