Hello lads.
As you can see by the title, I need to get these little bitties off of me. In technical terms, I am aiming to get a mastectomy.
OHIP does cover FTM or gender-affirming surgeries. I am not eligible since I consider myself a woman, aka the gender I was assigned at birth. Due to this, any gender-related issues I may experience are not considered enough, which classifies my surgery as 'cosmetic.' As such, I must pay out of pocket.
Surgery is a drastic thing to do, so I want to assure you that I have considered many options to deal with my discomfort, and this is the option that suits me best. As I'm sure everyone can relate to, being comfortable in your body is a high priority, and I have not been comfortable for a very long time.
The rough cost of the surgery is $8500. I do have some savings, but they aren't quite there yet! As a student, it's slow going, but I have been trying my best. I consider myself a patient person, but the sooner I can get surgery, the sooner I can be myself. In all honesty, I don't expect my goal to be filled quickly or fully. Still, I am hoping this fundraiser keeps me motivated in my savings.
In all seriousness, this would make me a much happier and healthier person! Anything contributed to my goal would mean the world to me. So thank you in advance to anyone who contributes. I owe you a million x2.
