On August 27th, my sister Haley, her 7 year old daughter Carli, and three dogs were rescued by boat from her home in Dickinson, TX when the flooding of Hurricane Harvey took over. The devastation in Southeast Texas has been absolutely unbelievable.
My sister, Haley, is a first time home owner as of about 2 months ago. She is a single mom to the coolest 7 year old little girl, Carli. She is a high school English teacher for TCISD. She is my best friend.
Many friends and family members have been able to volunteer their time to help with removing unsalvageable furniture, all of her flooring, and a large portion of the drywall throughout the entire home. There is still a lot of work to be done and a lot of repairs to come. At this point, they are unsure of when they will be able to return to their home.
For those of you who would like to help with her home repairs but cannot donate your time, I have set up a fundraiser on her behalf. She, unfortunately, did not have flood insurance coverage. Any donation at all would help Haley and Carli get one step closer to getting their lives and their home back to a normal and livable environment. Haley has direct access to all funds donated to this campaign.
