Lenny’s Journey

Donation protected

My name is Jenny Newton and my family and I all live in Essex. I have 1 brother, Ed and 2 sisters, Bobby and Jill with the head of the family being our mum, Diane. My sister Jill and her hubby Daren have a little boy called Lenny. Lenny is my gorgeous nephew and cousin to my 2 children, although they are growing up more like siblings and are definitely besties !
Lenny is a typical 8 year old boy with a brilliant fun sense of humour who loves to pull silly faces and cracks up at the mention of poo. He is a sociable little boy with loads of friends from both school and his numerous hobbies/clubs and loves anything to do with sport, especially football. He’s a striker for a local team, he attends after school footie and also the schools multi sports club. One of his proudest achievements is being titled the fastest boy in his year, in fact as a family we always call him Forest Gump!! Kung Fu is also something Lenny has been doing since the age of 5 and is now an orange belt. Lenny is like a little jumping bean and literally can’t sit still, he’ll choose to cartwheel, run and jump instead of just sensibly walking! The only thing that keeps Lenny still and quiet is his beloved XBox ! Lenny loves nothing more than a sleepover at mine with his cousins, play dates, days out, sports camps, just anything which means fun.
He’s a very loving boy who still sleeps with his “cuggles” and ted and will climb up onto either Jill or Daren’s lap for kisses and cuddles and shower his mummy and daddy with love... but as long as there’s no one about to see! He’s our blonde hair, blue eyed, handsome, head strong little boy whose always on the look out for mischief and the whole family love him dearly and couldn’t be prouder.
Sadly, on the 27/4/18 our Lenny was diagnosed with stage 3 T-cell non hodgkins lymphoma which is a cancer that attacks the lymph nodes. Lenny had a tumour on each side of his neck, a mass on his chest and some on his kidneys. Lenny is in the early stages of 3 years of Chemotherapy at GOSH undergoing intensive treatment for the first 6 months and then a period of what they call maintenance for 2 and half years of less intensive chemotherapy treatment. The next 3 long years are going to be so tough on Lenny and both my sis and bro in law will obviously need and want to focus their time and energy on getting him better with Jill needing to be at home as a Lenny’s full time career. Both Jill and Daren work and are both self employed so along side the worry of the health of their little boy, they will also now be faced with financial difficulties.
After a chat between myself and some of Jill and Daren’s close friends we decided to set up this Go Fund Me page. The fund has been set up to show and offer financial support during this long, dark period of their lives. The money raised will help pay towards positive treats to lift Lenny’s spirits, which has been proven to aid in recovery. The money will also go towards helping to pay for train fares, parking, congestion charges, fuel, accommodation when staying at the hospital over night, equipment to make lenny comfortable at home as well as any items needed to make his home as sterile and safe as possible. In general it will mean the long 3 year journey ahead can be about and focused on getting Lenny better without Jill and Daren having to worry about money and financial difficulties.
All donations will be paid directly to an account in Jills name so they can be used as and when needed and I can definitely say on my sister and Daren’s behalf that this money is received and appreciated more than can be expressed in words.

Please show your support to our adorable Lenny and Jill & Daren and let's kick cancer where it hurts x
