Hailey’s Journey to lung transplant

Hailey is 10 and has been diagnosed with a genetic condition dyskeratosis congenita. Her condition has cause irreversible damage to her lungs. She will require a double lung transplant soon. 
We live in Iowa and have been referred to Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston. 

Once she is placed on the transplant list we will have to stay in Houston until the lungs are available and no one will be able to provide a timeline. It could be a couple weeks or it could take a few months. We will also have to stay for a recovery period. 

With that said, we have no idea what to prepare for financially. Our community has been incredibly supportive and we have had people outside our area wanting to help. We kinda feel like squirrels gathering for a harsh winter.

Right now all money being collected is being funneled into our savings account to use when expenses start to accumulate beyond our current means. However, when we feel like we’ve reached the end of this journey and Hailey is back up and going, any money remaining will be donated to another family in need. 


All funds raised will go directly to medical expenses, travel assistance and cover any loss of income.
