We are walking 2,800 miles across the UnitedStates to raise money for The Night Ministry, aChicago-based organization that provideshousing, health care, and a variety of socialservices to people who are homeless or strugglingwith poverty. We chose The Night Ministrybecause it serves our hometown community ofChicago and was highly recommended by severaltrusted workers in the field. This journey began asone geared towards personal growth. Along theway, however, we were inspired to attach thiscause to our walk after talking to several formerlyhomeless individuals and hearing about theirstruggles. We have also been touched by thecompassion shown to us by people who havemistaken us as homeless. However, we are awarethat many homeless people, especially those inurban areas, are often not treated with this samelevel of compassion. This further motivates us tosupport the work that The Night Ministry is doing.We began our trek at the Coney Island Boardwalkin NYC on June 17th. We walk 25 miles per dayand plan to arrive in Los Angeles aroundDecember 1st.
