Dear friends,
As many of you know, Puerto Rico was recently destroyed by Hurricane Maria. The current situation is still bleak. Many people lost their homes, infrastructure is destroyed, hospitals are in crisis, children are hungry and MORE THAN 1,300,000 american citizens remain without power. With your generous contributions we have been able to send over 500,000lbs of emergency aid like food, water, diapers, baby formula, solar lights, generators and much more to help bring a sense of relief and refuge to the people of Puerto Rico. H.A.D.A. of SW Florida , a non-profit organization, is proud to have been instrumental in all of these efforts.
This past January we partnered with Jetblue, the Minessotta Twins, the Boston Red Sox, Tres Monjitas and other small businesses in Puerto Rico in an initiative called Promesa de Reyes in which we succesfully helped purchase and deliver about 4,000 toys all around the island.
Our next phase is to help the Headstart programs in Puerto Rico. With the help of Linda Bruno, a retired teacher, principal, and superintendent with a passion for education, we aim to help restore educational supplies lost in the storm.
She will be working with the Hispanic American Doctors Association of Southwest Florida, in providing the Head Start Programs throughout Puerto Rico with books, materials, and supplies .
The hurricane destroyed not only the inside of the schools but also all of the books, materials, and supplies used on a daily basis by the children and teachers.

We are calling on leaders in the community, people with ties to Puerto Rico, businesses and residents of Southwest Florida that want to help our sister to the south to be whole. The devastation remains real. The tragedy in all corners of the island is real. The need is real. The cry for help is real.
But hope is real. The power of the human spirit is still real. The unity in Southwest Florida is real. The desire to help is real. The plan is real. The results will be real.
Please consider helping us bring the light back to Puerto Rico and unite for Puerto Rico.
