Leonard Hack - Funeral Expenses

My stepdad, Leonard Hack was 59 years old when he passed away on Feb 17th, 2015 due to complications from pneumonia and COPD.  He was married to my Mom, Mary "Ann" Hack for 14 and a half years.  Leonard was disabled due to a back injury and only had one kidney since he was 29.  Ann worked at Leitchfield Plastics until it doors closed in 2008 and has been a stay at home wife since then.  Leonard fell ill about two months ago.  He had been to Twin Lakes Hospital but thought he was able to get well without going to Louisville for further care.  However, this last trip to Twin Lakes was via ambulance and he did not refuse the trip up to Norton Downtown.  My brother and I went up to see him that night and Leonard was in pretty good spirits as we had him laughing with some jokes.  Of course there was some talk about UK and UL as Leonard was a HUGE Louisville Cardinal Fan and my brother and I are Wildcat Fans but it was always in good fun.  My husband and I saw him again on Saturday, Valentine's Day, and Leonard had removed his oxygen as he didn't want to appear weak in front of my husband, Donald.  Ofcourse we weren't there long before Leonard was receiving a good scolding by one of the Doctors because his oxygen was low and he had his oxygen was off but this was typical of Leonard.  He always wanted to be the strong man.  He did put his oxygen back on but he made it clear that he didn't have to put it on if he didn't want to.  Unfortunately, Leonard went down hill extremely fast from there...  His oxygen wouldn't stay up with the oxygen on.  He was basically drowning with the fluid in his lungs.  The Doctors were going to sunction the fluid out of his lungs but they had to put him on the ventilator in order to due that which meant he had to be sedated.  Leonard was scared but he felt he didn't have a choice and decided that it was his best chance.  After the procedure, his heart rate went up and up and up...  His oxygen went down and down and down...  His kidney started to fail...  He coded and they brought him back...  His heart rate remained high, his oxygen remained low, his kidney continued to fail, his heart started to fail...  Then Leonard went Home...  It's the hardest thing for those of us left here without him, especially my Mom.  She feels like she has nothing...  Today she went down to make the funeral arrangements and now has a huge financial burden to carry along with everything else.  She is moving in with me as she can no longer afford to live in their home.  If you feel like sending flowers, please don't.  She would prefer that you use that money to assist her with this huge burden.  Anything at all would be of assistance to her...  It will take her a bit to find a job as she has to get her drivers license first.  She has a long road ahead of her and I am here beside her but would greatly appreciate any help you could provide.  Her remaining balance for the funeral expenses is the exact amount that I have listed as the goal of $4003.  I'm not one to ask for help, but I am reaching out and asking for help for my Mom this time...  Again, it is much appreciated and thanks for reading this far.
