Haacaaluu Hundeessa's Family Support by MTA, USA

Donation protected

The artist Haacaaluu Hundeessaa was assassinated in Finfinnee/Addis Ababa on June 29 at the age of 36. His death is a huge loss for his family members and for all the Oromo who greatly appreciate his songs and cherish his enormous contributions not only to Oromo nationalist songs but also the Oromo nationalist resistance songs that stood for justice and against inhumane acts in Oromia as well as Ethiopia at large. He had an overall passion for life, but more importantly, he was a dedicated young husband with three children and was incredibly proud of his family, his nation, Oromo and Oromia. Haacaaluu left us too early and died a martyr for his people’s equality, justice, and freedom. He was young, spent five years of his life in prison and fought for the Oromo causes. He loved to raise his children and left three children ranging from one month to four years. The Macha Tulama Cooperative and Development Association Usa Inc (MTA) believes that Oromos have a moral responsibility to show solidarity with Haacaaluu’s family, now and for the years to come.

Macha Tulama Association (MTA), USA INC, has obtained full permission from Haacaaluu Hundeessaa's family (wife, father and mother) to open a GoFundMe account to support the Haacaaluu family in light of the horrific loss that 'she suffered. All funds raised will go to his family (his wife and parents). MTA, USA Inc is a tax-exempt organization registered in Washington, DC and managed by an elected board of directors. MTA obtained full permission from the Artist Haacaaluu’s wife (primary beneficiary of the campaign fund) that MTA can withdraw the funding using the Organization's bank account and facilitate the transfer of money. MTA had a meeting with fundraising campaigners and donor communities on August 7, 2020 and agreed on how the funds would be channeled to the recipient and that MTA opened a deigned bank account for the withdrawal of funds under MTA's bank account. Fundraising campaigners have agreed that the MTA will take fully responsibility to manage the funds, but they will insure transparency in how the MTA will transfer the funds to the recipient and a meeting will be called to fully address to donors and communities once funds transferred and audited based on MTA's audit process.

Haacaaluu's dedication and motivation for Oromo unity, love and care have earned him the respect of all Oromos around the world. He had abundant energy and challenged himself every day to do his best to advance Oromo causes. He was loyal to all Oromos and a fan of the arts and creativity. He was also a multi-talented man and someone we could always count on. For example, Haacaaluu helped the MTA raise large amounts of funds through his gifted art at a grand fundraising concert prepared in the Washington DC metropolitan area in 2016 to support displaced and massacred Oromos in Oromia during the great Oromo protest movement. He also represented the MTA in delivering financial and material support to the Oromos who were deliberately displaced in Eastern Oromia in 2017 and 2018.

Finally, the US based MTA truly appreciates your generosity and your solidarity with Haacaaluu’s family by contributing to the account created herewith.
