Support My Brother’s Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

Hi. My name is Chelsea and I want to tell you about my youngest brother. When he was 2 years old, the doctors discovered a small tumor in the left parietal area of the brain. Because of the location, they were not able to do a biopsy or remove it as the consequences would have been too great. They monitored the tumor frequently, throughout his life and fortunately it never showed any significant growth. So while he experienced some side effects from the tumor, it was safer to leave it alone. Doing surgery could have left permanent deficits or could have been fatal.

Now he's 26. He had been having considerable pain as well as noticing some growths on some bones and soft tissue. The doctor then ordered numerous tests and scans, such as CT scans, ultrasounds, MRI's, bloodwork. It was in the MRI that the radiologist called the doctor and said that a second tumor was found. This time in the left frontal lobe, and it was a glioblastoma. Then the doctor called my brother and gave him the news. This all happened in one day. December 10th 2020. It was devastating and our family was heartbroken.

A glioblastoma is an agressive form of cancer. Life expectancy is 14- 24 months for someone who receives treatment. My brother is not a candidate for surgery because of where it is located. It's is touching the motor cortex and subcortical structures and extending to one of the ventricles. The doctors cannot even biopsy without a high risk of permanently impairing him or potentially ending his life.

For those of you that don't know my brother, he has one of the biggest hearts. He and my Mom put together Christmas bags for the homeless. He frequently donates items to local animal rescue organizations because he is an animal lover. He is always there to help the underdog or a friend in need. He's very tech savvy. He's a quiet, private kind of guy and never wants to be the center of attention. And it's extremely difficult for our family to have to prepare for what could be, a very bleak and short future for him.

This will potentially have a great impact on our parents. Alan and Carol want to seek out whatever treatments, be it traditional or alternative. Unfortunately those can be quite costly and most not covered. Which they cannot afford. We all want to make sure that he has the best options available.

We know that everyone has been struggling during these unprecedented times. It has not been easy. We want to thank you in advance for the love and support and for donations. And for sharing this page and raising awareness to our cause. Thank you from our entire family.
