Nathan felt too ill to go to work on October 27th. By the 29th, he had a fever of 103 and went to the ER, but was sent home. The next day, with a fever of nearly 105 Nathan was admitted to the hospital. He was quickly diagnosed with acute-onset ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon. Test results for Chrohn’s disease came back inconclusive, leading to further testing.
After 13 days in the hospital Nathan’s condition has not improved. The surgical procedure to correct his condition is the removal of his colon, but he is currently too sick to undergo the complete surgery. Instead, he will need 3 surgeries over the next year, with each surgery requiring a 10 to 12 week post-op recovery.
With no short term disability or salary continuation, Nathan’s hospital stay, future surgeries, and lengthy recovery will be done using unpaid time off. With such a devastating loss of income, Nathan will be facing not just insurmountable medical bills, but mounting unpaid living expenses including his mortgage and health insurance whichh must be paid out of pocket each month to retain.
Nathan and Jennifer have a caring group of coworkers, friends and family who have been asking how they can help. Our goal is to raise money to aid Nathan in paying for his health insurance and assist in sustaining him during his unpaid recovery.
Money collected will be used to help pay Nathan’s house payment, so that he doesn't lose his home while in the hospital, and for his health insurance.
