Dexter\'s Surgery Fund

Donation protected

Hey everyone! For the last year or so my wonderful dog, Dexter, has developed a severe limp in his left leg.  He is my life, and everyone that comes in contact with him cannot help but be absolutely in love with him as well.  Seeing as I am a recent college graduate working a part-time job at a social media marketing company and my girlfriend is in her last year at the University of Central Florida working as a server trying to get by, we have not been financially stable enough to get this looked at in a more in depth manner- as walk-in clinics prescribing him anti-inflammatories never really did the trick in the long term.  With the help of my family, I was able to see a veterinarian about his condition. After a few visits to the vet, I was finally recommended to see a specialist regarding the injury. I came to find out that poor Dexter has completely torn the cruciate ligaments in both knees (comparable to an ACL tear in humans). Knowing that I didn\'t have the money, I tried every possible way of healing him naturally/holistically to no avail. The condition continued to worsen to the point that I couldn\'t take it anymore.  Dexter was literally walking on his two front legs, resulting in extreme difficulty when he would try to get up and sit down.  He could barely even hold himself up properly to go to the bathroom.  I was finally able to put down $600 dollars and set up a credit line to pay for the rest of the first surgery.  Out of the many surgeries performed to alleviate this problem, his veterinarian settled on a procedure called the Tibial Tuberosity Advancement.  The surgery itself, including the hardware, costs a little under $3,000.  X-rays, vet fees, and medications make up the other $400-$500 dollars depending on the medications prescribed and his time in the office. The cost of that procedure two times is just under $7000 dollars. We have created this page to reach out to our friends and family and anyone else who has experienced the utter happiness this, or any, amazing dog can bring to ones life.  It\'s been over a year since Dexter has stepped paw onto a dog park and had any real interaction with other pups, and there\'s nothing we want more than for him to live the life he was meant to live.  He turns three in June and just has so much more life to live, and joy to bring.  Both large and small donations can contribute to a miracle, and we greatly appreciate anything anyone can do to help.  Thank you for your time and consideration, I know together we can make an astronomical impact on an incredible dogs life.

With all the love in our hearts,

David, Ashley, and of course, Dexter
