Hey all thank you for viewing this page and thank you for any donations/assistance you can provide in our efforts to aid Benji and his family.

As many of you know, on September 12, 2014, Benji was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. A few days later he began having complications with his legs. He found the cancer had spread to his spine resulting in emergency surgery on the 18th of September at Holy Cross Hospital. Since then it's been a tiresome, nonstop ride between doctors and facilities for him, his wife, and family.  Benji continues to struggle daily as this disease is spreading throughout his body like a wild fire.  As a result of all of the other complications he hasn’t really been able to deal with the cancer.

The following is a basic timeline of events Benji and his family have undergone since the initial diagnosis:

After a successful surgery he was discharged to Laurel Hospital for rehabilitation on the 23rd and then home on the 30th with use of walker and wheelchair. On October 6, he began his radiation treatments in Greenbelt and was scheduled for his chemotherapy port to be inserted on the 15th at Laurel Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, the day of receiving his port Benji encountered another setback. He complained of sharp pain throughout the body and Laurel physicians had concerns with his inability to walk. So, he was transported back to Holy Cross Hospital where he was admitted to the Emergency Room. During his stay at Holy Cross it was determined that he had developed a deep stomach ulcer and esophagitis, as result of the radiation treatments, which required him to be fed intravenously. Benji was able to receive to two chemotherapy sessions that were long overdue.

Upon being discharged from Holy Cross on October 25th, he was received at Cherry Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Three days later he was rushed to Laurel Hospital due to complications of bleeding. On the 29th Laurel transferred him to Prince George’s Hospital due to the lack of specialist to address his need. His wife wanting the best for her husband had him moved from Prince George’s Hospital to Holy Cross on the 31st where he received over 30 units of blood to date.  Sunday, November 2, 2014 he underwent an angiogram to try to stop the bleeding. Benji being the warrior that he is, is just taking everything one day at a time.

Although, his spirit is improving his family sits with him each day; they still face the financial pressures of medical bills and day to day expenses such as time off work without pay, transporting his daughter Breejae to and from school, parking fees at hospitals and doctors offices, meals away from home, prescriptions and many other expenses. The last thing Benji needs to worry about is losing the basic essentials while combating this illness. So, if possible please contribute to this effort to assist him and his family. All donations will go directly to his family to manage the care needed to sustain Benji’s health and their home. No amount is too small.

Again, thank you for visiting, your prayers, and your generosity.
