Joe’s Recovery Fund

Rarely in life do we come across someone who has dedicated their entire life to giving back.  Rarely in life do we meet someone who’s entire life has been about helping those in need.  Rarely will you meet someone who will light up a room the way that Joe does.  

You may know him as Joe Harvey, Joe, Joey, Mr. G or Mr. Garcia, but one thing is for sure, you know him as the guy who can always be counted on to listen, help, support and love unconditionally.  

Joe has dedicated his career to those in need. He’s worked at the Coastal Bend AIDS Foundation, Communities in Schools, as a junior high teacher and as a high school counselor. All of his jobs have been about giving back and helping others.  

Today, he’s the one in need of help.  The stroke he suffered in late August has prevented him from work.  Although he makes progress everyday, he’s got a ways to go.  His determination to make a full recovery is making a difference.  I truly believe his speech and physical capacity will return to normal one day.  At this time, he remains in the care of medical professionals and physical therapist.  

Mounting medical bills and an inability to work have placed an immense financial strain on him.  Although his focus should be on recuperation, it’s impossible not to think and worry about financial responsibilities. As someone who has always been about helping others, receiving support is a difficult thing.  It will, however, allow him to focus on nothing more than a full recovery.  It won’t be long before he’s back in the business of giving back and helping others.  

The Garcia Family and his close friends thank you for the phone calls, text messages, Facebook posts and prayers. They have lifted his spirits and have given him a reason to fight for a comeback!!
