Welcome to our page!

Hi and welcome to our Go Fund Me page! Some of you may be aware that we’ve been raising money for our graduate film ‘Sense of Tumour’. After seeing the generosity and excitement from all of our followers for the release of this film we wanted to make sure that it exceeds all of your expectations! For this reason we’ve started up a Go Fund Me to ensure that we can obtain the best possible locations, actors, equipment, props and costumes necessary to create a breathtaking film for you to all enjoy. With your help and kindness we can afford to do this, so please support us if you can by making a donation of any amount, it all adds up! Thank you from all of us here at Connected Productions.

Synopsis!

Sense of Tumour is a drama/comedy short based off of a true story. It follows 20-year-old cancer patient, Jamie, after she is told that her chemotherapy has been unsuccessful. Consequently, now her only real hope of being cured is CAR T-cell therapy, an innovative new treatment for those afflicted with blood cancer with a disheartening 30% success rate. Desperate to run from the truth, and with a freshly ignited lust for life, vivacious Jamie, and her doting girlfriend Grace, go on a road trip to the lake where the two spent many summers and fell in love. However, this time it’s winter, Jamie is weak, and Grace is fearful that her physical health is only deteriorating further whilst she deflects from her reality.

What this film means to us!

Hi, Shell here – the DOP and creator of Sense of Tumour. Since September 2019 I have been, and still am, fighting Stage 4 High-Grade Non-Hodkin Lymphoma, for the second time within a year. After receiving 6 months of R-CHOP and Intrathecal chemotherapy I went into complete remission, but unfortunately relapsed a month later. After my relapse, I stopped responding to chemotherapy and my cancer progressed meaning I needed radiotherapy and most recently, CAR T-cell therapy which is an innovative new cancer treatment brought to the UK in just 2017 for clinical trials. Since then, University College Hospital has treated only roughly 100 blood cancer patients on the NHS with CAR T-cell therapy.

I suppose it then goes without saying why this film is so important to me and my team. I have a rare opportunity as a filmmaker to share my candid experiences with the world through such a powerful and immersive medium. With your donations we can make a film that explores an authentic, darkly humourous and very personal story about cancer in young people in order to raise awareness and help those afflicted to feel less alone. Not only this, but as one of only a few patients to receive CAR T-cell therapy in the UK, we are proposing a film that will be one of the first of its kind in exploring what is set to be a revolutionary cancer treatment, from an unfiltered and well-informed perspective.

We are passionate about this film for a number of reasons, and even though it dives into quite a niche subject matter, it is ultimately a film that explores life, and the fragility but also beauty of it, even in the mundane and especially in the love that we find in other people.

Other ways you can help!

We understand that especially in these times not everyone has the means to donate to our production, however, there are still ways you can support us which we would hugely appreciate! Spreading the word about our film can help to raise awareness and reach more potential donators on your timeline, so please share our film on your accounts and follow our socials for exciting updates at every stage of production!
