Paul Brock aged 63 years was travelling home from work on Saturday 5th Jan.
Paul was not rostered on for a Saturday shift, in fact had not worked a Saturday in a long time, but had been asked to work and he did so.
On completion of his shift, he stopped at Menai to fill up with petrol and then was travelling along New Illawarra Road Lucas Heights when the horrible accident occurred. He never made it home.
The driver who crossed the mid line on the road was a disqualified driver, out on bail and driving a car without the owners consent. It is yet to be determined the cause of the accident but Paul Brock was not at fault.
A gentleman who witnessed the accident and was an off duty firefighter, was with Paul within 20sec, but it was too late to aid Paul in any way.
Paul’s wife Diane’s life has been shattered, not only was Paul her carer but his daughter Erin had only married in October 2018.
Diane who needs care to remain in her home at Heathcote, now has the task of assessments, appointments etc to ascertain the community help available. Paul and Diane’s beautiful dog
Skye has also been affected as she was Paul’s baby, he walked, washed, fed and cared for her and Diane cannot do these things alone due to ill health.Skye has a new home with Erin’s mother in law.
The grief and sadness that has been placed upon the whole family is so unnecessary as this driver should NOT have been on the road full stop.
Diane is not in a great financial situation now as Paul was supporting her alone, and there is still a mortgage on their home.
