Hello my name is Catherine Tucker I live in Lutz Florida. On June 28th 2015 I was involved in an accident that resulted in multiple fractures of the bones in both of my feet and ankles, and my left wrist/hand and fingers (thankfully my right arm was not injured). my injuries were severe enough to be airlifted to a hospital in Hudson Florida on June 28th. At this point I have been in the hospital for 9 1/2 weeks.
I have had 12 or 13 surgeries (I have lost track)to repair the damage, including hardware placement, and a skin graft.
My insurance company will pay for my extensive hospitalization but not a skilled nursing facility.
My dilemma is that I am unable to return home at this point, my Husband is ill and cannot provide the level of care that I currently need. The hospital can no longer justify my admission and plans on discharging me tomorrow.
My doctors will not allow me to bear weight on my legs until at least Oct 20th (48 days from now, but who's counting)
I have made many phone calls and have found that skilled care facilities in the Tampa area range from $195-500 per day plus meds, the latest news is that I will also need 6 additional weeks of IV antibiotics.
When I am allowed to bear weight my insurance company will pay for a rehab facility for three weeks hopefully by then I can return home.
i am asking for financial help to bridge the gap that my insurance will not cover.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
