Guy's Living Donor Kidney Campaign

Donation protected
10/18/2018 Update - Guy is recovering nicely from the transplant. All his blood tests are coming back with excellent results. He's finally been released to drive and only has to travel to Piedmont every other week instead of weekly. Ed, Guy's donor, and his wife, Lisa, celebrated their 10th anniversary yesterday and we're so happy for them. They also recently announced they were expecting an addition to their family (well, besides Guy and all of our crazy family) in the Spring. It's wonderful to be able to look forward to the future knowing Guy has his health back (Thanks to Ed). Please consider becoming a Living Donor. You're gift of a kidney means life for someone else.

9/21/2018 - We have the most incredible news to share with all of you. 6 months ago an amazing man watched the video that we shared about Guy. He emailed Julie at Piedmont that day and began the process to find out if he could be a Living Donor. After months of waiting, quite a few tests, and waiting some more, this morning Ed successfully donated his spare (kidney) to Guy. They both are currently doing well and will be in recovery for several weeks. Guy and Ed are ready to start helping as many people as they possibly can as soon as they are up and running. Please continue to keep them both in your thoughts as they heal. Ed is truly our hero and literally part of our family now. We are forever indebted to he and his family for their support, generosity, unwavering kindness and the incredible selflessness they have shown to Guy and our entire family.
Now that Guy has a donor, we’re at the next step in our fundraising. We don’t want Ed to have to pay for any of his expenses which include 10 days lodging and meals for he and his wife, Lisa, in Atlanta, travel from St Louis to Atlanta and back and at least 2 weeks leave from work. Guy will be taking at least 3 anti rejection medication for the rest of his life plus incurring on-going medical expenses that we’d like to help him pay for. In addition, he is incredibly determined to help other people find the donors they need and spread awareness about the Living Donor Program. Any additional donations will be directed to kidney.org in hopes to raise money and encourage more people to Share their Spare.

Guy and his family would like to thank everyone for their continued support during his recovery and hope that his story will inspire others to learn more about becoming a Living Donor.
