Gus & Ollie are my 2 pugs that are experiencing some serious medical issues right now. These snorty, cuddly pugs are my life and they need help. Gus & Ollie have given me so much. Please help me help them.
In August, Gus was hospitalized for a week and needed several blood transfusions. He was diagnosed w/ immune mediated thrombocytopenia (his immune system attacks his platelets). Gus had a relapse about a month ago and was back in the hospital for another transfusion.
Part of his treatment requires high doses of steroids, which has caused steroid-induced diabetes (It’s getting under control with insulin). Because Gus has a compromised immune system, his body is struggling to heal some corneal ulcers. That treatment has required lots of doctor appointments and medications. Gus has been in and out of lots of vets/hospitals lately.
This week, I found out that Ollie (Gus’ brother) has a cancerous tumor (mast cell) that needs to be removed. The procedure is normally straightforward, except earlier this year Ollie had a near-death reaction to anesthesia. So removing the mast cell tumor will be more precarious and requires more specialized care. I don’t yet know how serious the cancer is. Once the tumor is removed and graded, I’ll figure out his cancer treatment.
These dogs mean the world to me. They have been with me through thick and thin and they have been the light in my life during some dark times. Please help me keep them healthy.
The amount is a lot, I know. It covers Gus’ treatment to date, nothing for Ollie. Any help would be a blessing right now. Anything. That includes sharing this page and most of all, your positive thoughts and hugs. I need all the help I can get right now to stop the string of bad luck Gus & Ollie have had recently. Thank you!
