Lead by coffee collective president Thierno Boubacar Diallo, 45 hard-working coffee cultivators are steadily improving the economic status of Guinea. With the aid of lessons taught by the newly formed NGO Cafe du Foutah, this collective is learning how to cultivate coffee beans efficiently and invest earned profits into further agricultural projects and community programs. The Kondel Coffee Collective currently retains possession of 16,000 three-year old coffee trees in need of transplant within the next few months to get the full benefits of the coming rainy season, and its members have worked hard to secure the 24 acres of land necessary for successful cultivation. The fenceposts necessary for this project are now ready for use, and sixty people have gathered to assist with the transplant. Spirits are high and hope is rising.

What they don’t have yet is the $2,640 USD necessary to buy 24 acres of metal fence caging, which will ultimately provide protection from the cows and goats that roam the area. Ninety-six rolls of metal fence caging are needed to set this coffee cultivation project in motion. The price of one roll is 275,000 GF—which is equal to only $27.50 USD. The average American spends nearly that much on coffee in one week! Please take a moment to buy a roll, and soon you will be drinking a cup of Cafe du Foutah in your own living room.
