Hello everyone!
I'm raising the money to send a young Tanzanian guide to School! Abdallah works on the East African mountains of Kilimanjaro and Meru. He, just as many other fellow porters, guides and support members give thousands of tourists the chance of 'summiting' the highest mountain in Africa- many climbers of Kilimanjaro would not be able to make it without the outstanding support offered by these men and women.
Abdallah Maneno is a 25 year old male from the Tanzanian city of Moshi, he has been guiding climbers on Kilimanjaro for over two years and had been engaged as a porter on the mountain for many years before this.
Earning just $300 per month it would prove impossible for a man like Abdallah, an orphan, to raise the substantial funds required to further his education. Without further education he will never progress in his career, something he is extremely ambitious to do.
Whilst on Kilimanjaro this January, Abdallah was the first guide I engaged with, explaining to him about Dementia (We were trekking to the peak to raise both money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society), life in the UK and many other things. As the days progressed our friendship developed.
One thing I strongly believe is that those of us who are born into health, money, happiness are obliged to support those who are not.
Abdallah will be studying a Diploma in Wildlife Studies and Tourism at the MWEKA COLLEGE on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. This is an internationally recognized education facility which is at the forefront of Adventure Tourism and Wildlife Studies in East Africa. The course will run for 12 months with Abdallah boarding full time at the college.
To make this happen WE need to raise $4500/ £3000 before August!
Is this possible? If we work together I believe so.
I will be doing a number of fundraisers of the next two months including shaving all my hair off! Noooo!
100% of donations will be sent through to the Kilimanjaro Guide Scholarship Foundation Inc. A registered US charity which will facilitate and manage transactions and communications with Tanzania.
