Guesthouse for Dona and Beni

My name is Jenna, and I recently stayed for three weeks at a campsite in Permet, Albania, called Albturist Eco Camping. The experience was memorable not for the camping itself but for the very special couple who run it. 

Beni and Dona Tabaku established their campsite around five years ago and offer a tent, caravan, or plot of land to park on for a mere €4 per person/night. Although some foreign tourists stumble upon the campsite in the summer months, the numbers are inconsistent, and the winters are mostly barren of guests.

Those travelers who have stayed with Beni and Dona know not only how hard-working, humble, and hospitable they are but the tough conditions they live in. Their own home is very modest, to say the least, and is barely able to withstand the harsh elements throughout the winter months. 

However, they are far less concerned about their own circumstances than they are for the welfare of their guests, who may have to endure these conditions. They have put business/money concerns aside multiple times in order to make their guests as happy and comfortable as possible. 

During my stay, I had the pleasure of getting to know Dona well, including her hopes and worries. Her eyes shone as she told me her dream to open a guesthouse that she could run year-round. In fact, her nightly activity is to browse real estate listings and Instagram profiles of pretty houses, falling asleep while imagining her land with a proper home on it. A small house would cost a little over €20,000, or over 30,000 CAD. I'm  just hoping to get them a little closer to covering that cost.   

Dona's passion in life is genuinely to serve, host, and care for other people, and I've started this campaign by my own volition in an attempt to help her realize this dream. I would be ever so grateful if you could donate towards helping Dona and Beni fulfill it.
