In July, GUD will be traveling to Kenya to partner with three organizations:
- Destination Teach (DT)
- Carolina For Kiberia (CFK)
- Pan African Christian Exchange (PACE) Ministries.
1. With Destination Teach, GUD will collaborate with them to run a teacher development conference and build a library and garden for a partnering school.
The Teacher Development Conference aims to further develop skills of local teachers and provide resources for teachers lacking adequate classroom resources and materials. The new library built for the school will provide the students with a range of books for the children that will allow them to improve literacy and knowledge.
2. With Carolina For Kibera, GUD will be working with teenagers and young adults in Kibera and teaching leadership, entrepreneur, business and lifeskills.
GUD will also hold a GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) empowerment camp for girls and young ladies aged 12-20. The camp will include sessions focused on the areas of mental health and wellness, physical and reproductive health, leadership and empowerment, lifeskills and planning for productive futures.
In addition, GUD will hold a BRO (Boys Reaching Out) Empowerment Camp for boys and young men aged 12-20. The camp will hold sessions focused on mental health and wellness, gender equality, lifeskills, physical and reproductive health, domestic violence prevention and planning for productive futures.
3. With PACE we will help in the rehab of their medical facility that is aimed to serve the school and also the surrounding community. We aim to repair plumbing, the overall structure and appearance of the facility.
To achieve these goals, we definitely need your assistance. Naturally, we're writing grants, giving speeches, telling our story. Right now, though, we're spreading the word to friends and family, as widely as possible, to get this project launched.
