Guatemala 2018 Travel

Debbie and I need your help! Due to job loss in January 2017 our travel expenses to Santo Domingo – Xenacoj, Guatemala this January 2018 will be far beyond what we are able to cover ourselves. 2018 will be the sixth year and 8th trip we’ve made to Xenacoj to serve alongside several relief and missions organizations. In previous years we’ve covered all travel expenses ourselves and sponsored many families and projects. The cost is $1,500 per person for airfare and accommodations.
The unforeseen events in January of 2017 were both unexpected and devastating as we’ve seen significant financial loss. As the needs in Xenacoj continue to grow and our opportunities to help increase, we do not want our loss to stop our ability to continue serving and doing everything we can for the people of Xenacoj.
Our trip in January 2018 will continue to help many families and groups. We plan to replace a damaged and leaking roof at the local school, El Calvario. We also have ongoing plans to support individual families with home, kitchen and bathroom construction.
As in years past we will assist Guatemaltecas De Corazon in their work with single mothers and their children and help with provisions and other needs at the home we opened to house mothers and their children who have been abandoned and often times abused physically.
We will also continue to work with Hope Haven Guatemala in wheelchair fitment clinics and distributions. We plan to revisit families we’ve helped in past years to check up on their needs and do whatever we can to enable them to be safe, secure and healthy.
Our list of outreach efforts and projects is long and the need is great. If you can help Debbie and I raise the necessary funds to travel to Xenacoj this coming January we would be forever grateful.
