Guate Bonita 2017

Hello everyone!
In the wake of the current hurricanes and earthquakes, I am raising money for Guatemala. For those of you who know me, in college I started a campus organization called Guate Bonita. The purpose of the organization is to raise funds for the El Chupadero community in Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala. It's a rural community whose main source of income is generated from coffee and sugarcane farms-- it's also where my family is from. For many years, I have visited my family and through my time there I built relationships with the local community. I worked with the local church and schools to help raise funds for various projects such as:
- building bathrooms and a kitchen for the local elementary school
- buying supplies for students who could not afford it
- donating clothes to migrant and indigenous workers
- building a community garden
- donating funds to purchase a recreational field and equipment for the local children
- and many more projects.
The inspiration for all of this comes from my cousin, Wilmar, to give back to my family's community. Willy inspired, supported and made it possible for me to do this in an effective way in a community where I could see the direct impact. Sadly Wilmar passed away a few years ago from a horrible car accident and I have not gone back to Guatemala since. I was fortunate enough to be born in the United States and have many opportunities that many of my friends and family have not had access too. This will be my first time going back and I am raising money in Wilmar's memory- for all he has done for me and others. 
In this upcoming trip, my goal is to help the local community. So for those of you on this page, you may want to help and this is how you can do it:
