Norway, Pulse Nightclub, Las Vegas, the France terrorist attacks, Columbine, Sandy Hook, and others all have one thing in common- time on target measured in minutes. Time is life in situations like those. The more time an attacker has, the more lives they can take.
What if we could cut that time in half? What if those minutes it takes law enforcement and EMS to respond could be measured in seconds? What if there was an application that would allow those where the violence is to communicate the situation to first responders and help direct traffic where it's needed? How many lives could be saved?
It's these questions and a desire to create a potential solution that led me to start laying the groundwork for an application that could do just that. Guardian Angel will:
Empower those on the ground- By enabling educators to communicate directly with law enforcement in real time, they can begin feeding actionable information to first responders in real time, helping them build a picture of the events as they unfold.
Direct traffic- By enabling leaders within the responding units to direct personnel where they are needed quickly to resolve the threat and treat the wounded without the need for a lengthy room by room search.
Gather intel- By allowing leaders in the responding units to utilize CCTV assets to survey the scene while they are enroute to locate the threat, and injured parties.
Shape the scene- by enabling responding leaders to activate fire suppression systems, turn off lights, or activate any other remotely operated systems in place to disorient and slow down the attacker.
All funds gathered via Gofundme will go directly toward creating a working mockup and beta to test the efficacy of the application and begin the process of gathering capital from larger donors to bring the app online. Initial costs to develop a mockup that will demonstrate the capabilities of the first version of the app will be just shy of the $13,000 I'm attempting to raise. The estimated cost to fully develop the app will be roughly $500,000.
What this Gofundme will mean to me is that I will have something to show potential investors that will allow me to gather the funds necessary to make this a reality. Children deserve the best security, and teachers deserve to be empowered. This application can go a long way toward enabling both. I can't do this alone. I need your help.
