Daniel's Cancer Fund

Hello. My name is Daniel. I'm 39 years old, and I have stage IV colon cancer. It has spread to my liver, with 16 lesions that the surgeon has deemed inoperable (there wouldn't be enough healthy liver left over). I've already gone through chemo, and am about to enter into radioembolization, specifically targeting my liver to further shrink the lesions. I should be starting that within the next couple weeks.

I do have health insurance, but my copays are piling up in a huge way. Even with insurance, CT scans still run over $600 a pop, and I have four I haven't paid for yet. That's on top of nurse visits and ER bills I still have pending. As if to make matters worse, I've run out of paid time off at work, and any time I feel too sick, end up in the ER, or have a doctor's appointment that can't be scheduled on one of my days off, I lose money.

I'll be honest, things don't look good for me. Everything I've discussed with my doctors is just treatment, not a cure. Statistically, people with stage IV colon cancer have an 11% survival rate, with a life expectancy of 2 to 5 years. I still have hope, and I'll fight this with every ounce of my strength, but I'm also being practical. I'm probably going to die from this.

I ran a GoFundMe once already, to cover the copays on my chemo. I was very conservative in my amount, asking only for exactly how much I needed. I met that goal surprisingly fast, and it touched me deeply that so many would give so readily to a stranger. If you donated last time and are reading this now, you have no idea how grateful I am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This time, on the advice of friends and family, I have set the goal much higher. This isn't just to cover the cost of copays, it's to help support myself for those days I cannot work, other bills, and whatever else the future might bring. Also, to be perfectly honest, there are things I want to do before I die, and some of those goals require a lot of money. I know that sounds selfish, but these are my dying wishes, my last chance to do things that will help me feel fulfilled, thus making my passing easier to accept.

My family is helping as much as they can, but obviously they have their own bills to pay. I wouldn't go to the public with this unless I was truly in need. I don't know what else to say that might convince you to give, other than that if you do so, I would be eternally grateful, and that you would be  helping someone complete the final chapter of their life with a happy ending.

Thank you for your time.
