PLEASE READ UPDATED MESSAGE BELOW!
Dan Grafelman, 58 years old, is what I consider my second husband. We met through our children when his son and my daughter started dating in high school. We have had many happy times throughout our friendship - we would sit with him and his wife - Denise (my sister as we call each other) at all hours of the night playing cards, talking, and laughing. My husband and I got them both intereseted in NASCAR - we snuck them into races, we even met Dan one year in Atlanta for the races. I remember when we went camping and he snored so loud that we wanted to move his tent...far away. He always carried his pocket knife with him - scared the hell out of me! But through all of our times together or apart, he is and will always be our best friend. Unfortunately, yesterday morning he fell ill. He had 3 strokes, had a brain bleed, diagnosed with liver cancer which went to the brain. He fell into a coma and know this morning they told us that there is nothing they can do. He is currently on life support. His wife is trying to stay strong for her two boys. The worst part is that Dan was just about to be hired on full-time with benefits from a contracting position. He has no life insurance, no health insurance and no savings. Denise is not able to work. We have been told Dan could pass away anytime. I know the hardache and worry a family has when a loved one is dying. They say they will make them as "comfortable" as possible but what they are really saying is to say your goodbyes. Well my goodbye is asking for help from whomever is willing to help. So one last horray for Dan is this request. Thank you for taking the time to read and help!
