Washington D.C. Internship Funding

My name is Shameeka S. Price-Cleare, I was born and raised in Richmond,VA  and I am currently finishing up my sophomore year as an undergraduate at Norfolk State University in Norfolk,VA. As a student-athlete who works tremedously hard academically and athletically, I maintain a GPA of a 3.7 on a 4.0 scale and I am also a member of the Women's Track and Field Team.  I am a political science major focusing to pursue a career as a dipolmat of the United States and I was fortunate enough to be accepted into a prestigious internship program in Washington D.C. that could put me one step closer to my future. The name of the program is The Institute of Business and Government Affairs and this could be a wonderful opportunity as I seek to be a future leader of society. However, I need financial assistance in funding for my participation in the program during Summer 2016. The total expense for the Program is $7,495 to complete a 3-credit course at George Mason University, live in a dormitory hall on George Washington University's campus, and participate as in intern at a corporation in the Washington, D.C. area. The program awarded me with a partial scholarship of $3,750, however, I have to cover the remaining expenses out of pocket. My home university isn't able assist me with any funding and coming from a single parent home of three daughters, including myself, my mother doesn't have the funds to assist me at the moment either. I really really really want attend this program and I worked tirelessly to complete the application in order to ensure my chance at being granted such a great opportunity. Deadlines are approaching by the end of April and any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated! Aside from all of what I just stated, I believe in taking advantage of any and every opportunity. I don't come from a wealthy family, and I am determined to ensure a better future for my mother and my sisters.  Through any and every struggle, we've worked as a team to continue forward and I believe it is my duty as the oldest to set the example for my younger siblings and help my mother to know that all sacrifices she's made have been for a greater purpose. I really want this!
