We’ve been blown away by the kind heartedness of our community and the love that has been shown for Grozone. The generosity of individuals and local organisations really shows how valued our community garden is and thanks to you, the site will be back up and running in no time.
We’ve had a number of organisations ask how they can support Grozone beyond this incident. In all honesty we desperately need support in fundraising to ensure we can keep the site open for as many days as possible. With such a big site and so many volunteers, the project is constantly seeking funding to pay for staff and materials that are used. If you’d like to fundraise for Grozone in the build up to Christmas please do get in touch. You can donate directly through this page or donations can be made to Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside. If you’re interested in supporting the project please comment below and we will get in touch.
We’re really sad to report that over the weekend, unwanted visitors broke into Grozone whilst it was closed, starting a fire and vandalising some of the facilities.
As well as starting a fire in the yurt the visitors smashed the urinal and sink in the accessible toilets, and damaged the popular Grozone lion. This lion had been lovingly created by our volunteers as part of the Pride of Rudheath campaign. If you have any information that might help Cheshire Police identify those responsible, please telephone 101 and quote reference number 212884.
Grozone helps hundreds of people in the local community to make positive connections. We run outdoor play sessions with toddlers, education programmes with schools and a wide range of health and wellbeing projects supporting the local community.
If you’d like to support Grozone and help towards the repair costs and running costs for this fantastic community project then you can donate here
Any donation, large or small would be greatly appreciated and will help to ensure that this much loved oasis in the middle of Northwich can continue to do what it does best – make a difference to people’s lives on a daily basis.
