The world today is constantly bombarding us with messages regarding what our true identity should be, and how we must hide behind a facade of our own creation and indulge in our own desires. My generation is often left wondering, what is the truth about who I am and who/what is my identity found in? Jesus says in the book of John that he is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). It is clear that Jesus is the only truth and he is the one whom we should base our identity in. And although I am aware of this it is a constant battle to remind myself that I am not of this world, and therefore, should not conform to its patterns. Therefore, I believe it is of increasing importance that I build a stronger foundation and relationship with God, forming my identity in him. Because of this I have decided in January of 2018 to complete a course with YWAM Perth, called discipleship training school (DTS), which is a six month training program focused on equipping me to form a lifelong relationship with God. The lecture phase of this DTS (first three months) includes lessons in: hearing God's voice, the character of God, fear of the Lord, missions, the Holy Spirit, etc. which are essential to my full understanding of God and will allow myself to grow more grounded in my faith as well as my identity in Christ. The Outreach phase (last three months) involves ministering cross-culturally to the unreached; through children, woman, and prison ministry, teaching in schools and churches and working with at risk individuals as I fulfill the great commission by "going and making disciples of all the nations" (Matthew 28:19a) Much thanks to those who will support me on my journey and enable me to further understand who my identity is in Christ, as well as provide others with the opportunity to hear about the one true God!
