Growing in Love

In the year 2000 Drew and I decided we wanted to seriously pursue our family.  We were excited to see what God had in store for us.  After several years of trying to conceive we started to feel discouraged.  We started asking questions and we weren't getting any answers.  We prayed. We waited.

We were traveling in a full time ministry at the time and so it was challenging keeping doctors appointments and trying to figure out what was happening.  We continued to pray and started to explore our possibilities.  We found a fertility doctor and tried 3 IUI's.  They were all unsuccessful.  The doctor suggested IVF but it seemed impossible for our budget.  But regardless, we decided to save and pray.

When you're saving for a far off goal, it seems impossible to reach.  But every dollar adds up and we tried to focus on that.  We did this for over a year and found a new doctor where we did 2 more IUI's, both unsuccessful.  He informed us that IVF really was a better choice for us.  We were dealing with both male and female fertility issues and so we decided to go for it.  The doctor was very clear about our chances being less than 3% but we felt led so we went through with the IVF treatment.  It worked! I was shocked and couldn't believe God would give us such a gift! On September 6, 2013 we gave birth to Asher Harris.  You can read about our past and current IVF journey on my blog (https://kathleneblog.blogspot.com/).
We are still overwhelmed by the gift of Asher, he is amazing.  But my heart still aches....

It is challenging knowing that there are so many of my friends who still pray for one child, and we continue to pray for them as we press on to fight for our family as well. When Asher turned one I was extremely emotional. I wondered if we would have more children to add to our family.  I couldn't believe how fast the time was going by already.  So we began to pray and see what God wanted to do.

Here we are, 2 days after Asher turned 4 still praying.  In March of 2016 we tried 3 more IUI's that failed.  Our doctor said he would continue letting us do IUI's but he also said, "well, we know what works".  So we stopped the IUI's and prayed some more.

Since then we've been praying and saving and waiting for God to tell us each step to take.  We considered other options, but this is the one we feel led to walk towards. IVF is out of our budget again, but several of my friends have asked me to start this fund so they can help us.  Starting a fund isn't easy for anyone, but we are trying to remain faithful as we press in.  We will be prayerfully waiting to see when God would have us do the treatment.  My prayer is the first of the year.  We will see what God has in store!

Thank you for considering donating to our family.  We pray that as you give God will bless you abundantly with His presence as well as overly provide for your needs.  We appreciate you all

Here we go again!  (God makes the best stories)
