Growing Up Portsmouth: Community Art Project
Growing Up Portsmouth is a one-of-a-kind art experience, a reflection of connection,
collaboration and community. It’s thousands of people painting together to create a
unique body of artwork. And, it's a celebration of people who, over the past 50 years,
have helped transform Portsmouth into a vibrant cultural destination.
20 portraits, each painted by 100 people, create a singular art experience. The
mosaic-like paintings showcase the unique artistic styles of each participant and each
part contributes to the greater whole.
Short documentary films about the subjects accompany the finished artwork and
provide context and a rich exhibit experience.
Growing Up Portsmouth is a powerful story and legacy – one that will outlast all of us,
and capture this moment in history that we share.
