Carnegie Hall. THE Carnegie Hall. It is one of the world's most prestigious and revered musical venues. There is an old musing about this place: A pedestrian on 57th St in Manhattan asked famed pianist Authur Rubinstein "Could you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?" "Yes," he replied. "PRACTICE!"
High school students from around the world have been doing just that. Practicing, singing, rehearsing and tuning their instruments, with the express goal of someday performing in the venerated halls of this great institution.
Well, out of an untold number of applicants and an arduous selection process, we are proud to announce that our daughter, TALIA CARTER has been chosen as one of the 2015 Carnegie Honors Performers!!! She will be part of a chorus of high school students from around the world privileged to perform with several renowned music conductors and musicians. The trip will take place February 19-23, 2015. GO TALIA!!
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity... a BLESSING we are proud to witness and support! It's gonna be an expensive undertaking, but we are committed to making sure Talia is able to participate, learn from, and experience the wonders of Carnegie Hall and New York City.
That's where you come in. We need your help. Any amount you can donate will be helpful. We are also open to donations of airfare or even buddy passes (2 round trip tickets from Atlanta to New York might be a beast!). Will you please join us in supporting Talia on this once in a lifetime journey? So many bad things are said about today's youth. Here is an opportunity to highlight and encourage the GOOD they are doing! How many kids can say they've performed at Carnegie Hall? For that matter, how many adults do you know who've had such an opportunity?
As her parents, we are incredibly proud of Talia. She is an honors student, a gifted singer, a member of the Student Government Association, and a pretty great DJ to boot! She's providing a great example to her younger sisters and cousins. She's blazing a trail of excellence and your contribution to this wonderful cause is greatly appreciated.
