Green Not Greed

The problem of plastic pollution through consumerism is the number one issue facing the world as a whole. This throw-away and forget culture we have is killing or wildlife, polluting our land/oceans and will eventually choke the human race to extinction via dwindling food sources and pollution.

That's right, it's not going to be a series of atomic bombs, plague or presidents that kill off all life on the planet... its going to be our reliance on plastic.

It's estimated that there's already enough plastic in the world to cover it completely in a layer of film. It takes 500 to 1000 years for plastic to degrade into toxic particles. Microplastics are already eaten by our food chain and ending up inside of us -as well as killing our wildlife in huge numbers.

All the plastic that has ever been produced -that wasn't burnt (creating harmful gasses) or recycled (accounting for just 5% of plastic), is still on the planet in some form apart from the stuff floating around in space.

Everything plastic you touch, from day one, from that first plastic wristband with your name on -to the straw in your drink, is going to be here practically forever in some toxic form and is playing its part in humanity's destruction of our planet.

You might not care about this too much or feel you can do anything about it but if you have kids - or ever plan on having them, think about what the world is going to be like over the next 50 to 100 years at this rate, we already produce 320 million tons of plastic a year -which is more than the weight of humanity combined. It's everyone's responsibility to start looking after the planet for our future and stop using throw away plastic wherever possible.

This recycled plastic 'Green Not Greed' Keep Cup idea is just the start of a line of products I'd like to make in order to highlight and alleviate (in some small way) the problem of plastic pollution facing the world.

Funding is needed in order to tool up and produce the cups... the cups will be sold to office workers and to cafe's. The money from the sale of the cups will be invested back into G.N.G for tooling up on other recycled plastic products.  This initial fund will get me through the initial stages of research, travelling to various manufacturing plants, prototyping, setting up a website/blog, etc.

Any excess profits will be donated to charity's cleaning up polluted areas of ocean and land. If you have any particular charity at heart, just put it in the comments.

Thank you for your time - And any donations you make.
