Gray Family Medical Fund
Earlier this year, the headaches that started to become much more frequent and severe turned out to be glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. I underwent a very successful surgery, which removed about 90-95% of the tumor, and then several months of radiation and chemotherapy. We are currently in between rounds of treatment, and I will have an MRI scan soon to determine the current state of things in my noggin. With luck, everything will look great and I will be able to keep on keeping on for quite some time.
It isn't an easy road, though - I have good days, when I feel more or less completely normal, and bad days, when it feels like an epic struggle just to get out of bed, let alone parent two small, active, amazing children, keep up with the house, and all that business of normal living. Since I have no way of knowing which days will be good ones and which will be less so, it's more or less impossible for me to keep a 9-5 job (though I am working on some craft-related small business ideas)... which is the reason I'm coming to you wonderful people with this campaign. Anyone who knows me knows I HATE asking for help... but we have a mortgage, car payments, utilities, groceries, etc. etc. etc., which all need to be paid. Not to mention the medical bills themselves, of course, which are already in the tens of thousands (because who needs universal healthcare?!?
I will be getting Social Security, which will help keep us afloat, but that doesn't kick in until October, and we have bills piling up
in the meantime and, in the words of Mal Reynolds from Firefly, "a crew with a powerful need to eat."
And so my family and I - my two amazing, brilliant, beautiful girls, our crazy dog, two snuggly cats, and two crazy chickens - are coming to you for help. Literally any amount will be helpful, and appreciated beyond woes.
