Be a Nicaraguan Angel

One year ago I left the United States to retire peacefully in Granada, Nicaragua.  Without dipping into my meager saving living in the US on Social Security savings is a daunting challenge. In Nicaragua I can live quite comfortably if I am careful.

I have come to love the country and it's people but the extraordinary poverty boggles my mind. Medical care, while for the most part is free but by our standards quite primitive. Drugs are not free. So for the lack of drugs Nicaraguans of no means die when they shouldn't have to.

A while ago I decided to do something about it. I have donated my own money to purchase medications and  transportation to clinics. But there is only so much I can do. 

I decided to set this up to ask you for your help in saving a few lives and making others better. It doesn't take much. 

I give you my solemn promise and oath that every dime will go to help Nicaraguans I know. People who I know need help now. 

All my life I took care of my own selfish (and not so selfish) needs. Now that I am on the "back nine" I want to make a difference.

I will document the people we are assisting and include pictures as well. Feel free to ask any questions about the money and where it is going. The stories will touch your heart.

Just one story is Felix. Twenty years ago he injured a leg in a farming accident. At the hospital they decided to amputate but cut off the good leg. His bad leg needs constant attention and bandaging. I bought him about 800 cordobas of supplies but he is running out.

Please help me.
