Gracie Barra's Bushfire Fundraiser
Tax deductible
As many of you are aware, Australia is being devastated by bushfires. These are the worst bushfires in the world in recent years, and the worst in Australia's history, and is only expected to get worse. (https://bit.ly/2R6va9o0)
THE FUNDRAISING EVENT
On Saturday 18th January, from 12pm to 2pm, GB Schools across Oceania will be hosting a sparring session to help raise funds for the victims, and generate awareness to the bushfires.
THE STATISTICS
Here are the statistics of the Australian Bushfires so far:
- It has been estimated that between 480 to 800 million animals have died (https://bit.ly/2uzW1Do)
- Over 10.7 million hectares have been destroyed (more than 10x the size of the Amazon Fires) (https://bit.ly/2QCeojE & https://bit.ly/2R6va9o)
- At least 2,600 homes have been destroyed or damaged (https://ab.co/35K3MUg)
Unfortunately, these bushfires have seen the loss of life, thousands of residents being evacuated, and entire towns being wiped off the map.
Have a look at the video below showing the devastation to the local wildlife.
The fires are so dangerous as strong winds and dry conditions can lead to embers being spread, and start new fires.
We are asking for everyone's support in raising funds for our local communities that have been devastated by the bushfires.
