Grace Woods Dream Room

The facts are this, July 2011 Grace Woods was diagnosed with cancer.  I could go into great medical detail everything that has happened to Grace.  Her entire journey up to date can be read and updated at www.caringbridge.org/visit/gracewoods.  (Caringbridge is going to be where the most up to date medical information will be given by the family)  The truth is that Grace and her family has gone through hell in the last 3 years.  Grace is now 15 and her family has fought one helluva fight.  A few weeks ago tests were done, and it was confirmed that the last treatments weren't working.  Todd and Deanna wrote that there are two options, "First is to continue with some chemo that make her terribly sick, with the outcome only being delayed by a few months. Or 2nd to just take it as it comes with the quality of time left being much better without suffering through the effects of the chemo."  Grace made the decision to live the rest of her life to the fullest with her family and friends not with the chemo.  Grace isn't giving up, she is simply stating that she wants to live!  She wants to live the rest of her live having fun, allowing as many days as possible not be sick.  We don't know how long, and Todd and Deanna are going to give more information as it becomes available to them on their Caringbridge site.  To be honest, I am going to ask all of you for your help on helping one of Grace's dreams comes true!  Grace is your typical teenage girl, she however has cancer.  We are not going to focus on the days, hours or minutes that may be left.  Instead I am going to ask all of you to help be something bigger than yourself, and lets allow Grace a space that fills her friends and family with laughter, smiles, and happiness even during the rough times ahead.  Grace spends most of her time when she is at home in her room, (like most teenagers).  I met with her and her parent's, and Grace gave me an entire input on how she wants her room to be.  She wants a BIG smart TV, surround sound, she picked out colors for her room, seating options for friends, storage solutions, we talked about types of pillows and accessories she wanted, curtains, fabrics, sheets, comforters, duvet covers, rugs, and so much more.  She wants a "Neat clean room" and then she went on to say that the most important thing that she wants is "A BIG SMART TV", and twinkly lights in her room.  Her face just lit up when we talked about options. I told her flat that I can't promise anything, but what I can promise her is that we will do our best.  This isn't MY project for Grace, I want to make this this "Our Project" for Grace.  We have a big wish list to fill, and there are going to be things that we are going to need along with money  People to help paint, people to hang wallpaper (yes one wall is going to have a great wallpaper pattern), people to hang curtains, iron, put the room together, clear out the room, help assemble things, paint furniture, ect.  This is a HUGE undertaking and I know that we can do it.  Domino's Pizza has offered to feed all of the volunteers, so a HUGE thank you.  Do we have a time frame on when we want this done?  Well IMMEDIATELY!  As soon as we get the ball rolling the sooner than Grace can have her space.  I will keep this page updated on the progess, and what we can do next.  Consider giving even $5 (but we will take any amount)
