Our daughter Grace was born with a heart condition known as Aortic Stenosis which is a narrowing of the aortic valve opening in the heart. This is one of the most serious known valve disease problems in young children today.
Grace has already undergone three open heart surgeries, one at the age of 3 and another iniOctober 2016, at the age of 8. We were recently blindsided at a recent doctor appointment when we were told that they will need to go back in and repair or replace the valve as it is not operating correctly. We only had a few weeks between the diagnosis and her scheduled surgery. She had an open heart surgery over this past Christmas. They recently found an infection in her heart. It progressed very rapidly, and they had to do another open heart surgery to cleanup the infection and repair the damage. She is currently recovering in the ICU.
Grace truly lives up to her name, she is an energetic, inspiring, and amazing girl. She loves everyone she meets and will greet you with a warm smile that would boost anyone's mood. She enjoys arts and crafts, singing, putting on performances for all who will watch, and playing outside. Looking at her, you would never know her condition since she has never let it slow her down. Her energetic and loving nature along with her strength to take everything in stride is inspiring. Her concern and dedication to others even while suffering herself demonstrates the purity, kindness, and love that only a child can inspire.
No parent can truly be prepared for such an unexpected diagnosis, especially when her previous surgery was intended to last much longer. Our hope is that Grace can feel the love and support of her family and friends while she spends the holidays recovering from this procedure.
Although we have insurance, it is not enough to cover her full procedure. Any support collected would go toward her growing medical bills, medication, and other costs related to this unexpected surgery. Any donation, no matter how small is greatly appreciated!
