Grace's Fundraiser for Kenya Lacrosse

My name is Grace Dobrzynski. I am a rising senior at La Salle Academy in Rhode Island and a member of the girls’ varsity lacrosse team. I have played lacrosse since the age of 5, and I am blessed to be committed to play Division 1 NCAA lacrosse at Siena College. Lacrosse has always been such an incredible part of my life, and we are all lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy the friendships, championships, and competitive fun that it offers to us as an extracurricular activity. To the players at Kenya Lacrosse, this sport is their chance to rise out of poverty, as being a member of the team allows them to acquire an education and travel around the world to engage in international competition. I hope that each of you will consider donating to help me reach my goal of $10,000 for Kenya Lacrosse. This donation is a way to use the sport we all love to help those most in need.
I started following Kenya Lacrosse on instagram after the 2019 World Championship, as their presence there made lacrosse history and took the world by storm. Through following them, I became interested in their story and started to learn more. After some research, I began to understand just how impoverished these people are, and I realized that someone like myself has the power to seriously impact their lives.
The members of the Kenya Lacrosse team experience a level of poverty that is, personally, unfathomable. They lack many of the simple things that I take for granted in everyday life. They don’t have their own beds to sleep in, they rarely eat more than one meal per day, and they are considered lucky if they get the opportunity to go to school. Many of the boys and girls on the team experience violence, and some of the young girls have endured teen pregnancies through no fault of their own. The goal of this organization is to use lacrosse to help these people out of poverty. We can help them achieve this goal by donating to their cause.
Kenya Lacrosse is completely supported by the generosity of the members of the international lacrosse community. The organization is responsible for the health, education, equipment, and transportation of each of its players. Our donation will contribute to paying for the players’ school tuitions, cleats, repairs to their flooded homes, medical treatments, and so many more necessities.
With your help, I want to give back to the sport that has given so much to me throughout my life. It is so easy to take for granted the privileged life we were born into, but every small donation makes a huge impact in the lives of these players. By donating to the Kenya Lacrosse organization, we can support these people on their journey out of poverty and help them to build a better life for themselves.
