Grace Centre for Children and Families in Ethiopia has been serving the people of Bahir Dar for over 10 years. Grace offers an holistic approach to meeting the needs of families at risk of destitution and poverty. This is acheived by providing a range of services including:
* Child Care
* School Sponsorship
* Medical Assistance
* Literacy & Numeracy Training
* Vocational Training
* Temporary Care
* Foster Care
* Nutritional Assistance
Grace is currently needing to expand its Foster Care. We currently have 4 homes, 2 for boys and 2 for girls. We have a number of 2-3 year old infants who have grown up in Grace's Temporary Care and we need to prepare for their long-term future.
We believe that every child has the right to live with a family and we recognise that, although the staff at Grace Children's Home love the children who live there, this is still institutional care and the kids deserve better.
The funds that we are raising will cover the cost of purchasing the furnishings and appliances for a new Foster Care home as well as paying the rent for one year.
The kids are ready to be moved into the new Foster Care home as soon as it is ready, and we would love to be able to gather the funds quickly to get this happening.
