Gordy's Fund

We make this post, again, with heavy hearts. As most of you know, Gordon "Gordy" Duncan was diagnosed in January 2018 (a year ago!) with stage 4 (terminal) esophageal cancer.  At that time, the cancer had spread to multiple areas in his body including his liver, lung, pelvis, ribs, and spine. While most tumors have improved, many are still there. Just a few months ago, a new tumor was found on his 7th rib and a hot spot on one of the tumors in his liver.  He received radiation treatment and is now being treated with a new chemotherapy that causes much more difficult side effects.  He is also now on the list for any new trials that may come up with the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center.

Thankfully, Gordy has Medicare insurance, but he still must pay for some cancer related services and prescriptions.  While Gordy focuses on his treatment, neither he nor his incredible wife can work much. Gordy has been out of work since he got sick last January and Cherryl lost her job of 30 years late last year.  Because his treatments are only two weeks apart (for the rest of his life) he is now unable to work at all.  Each day is unknown and has to be dealt with flexibly and with much patience. Cherryl recently began work again but because she is the primary caregiver she cannot hold a full time position.

We want Gordy and the Duncan family to be as comfortable as possible.  The funds will primarily be used for experimental alternative treatments, cancer medications, groceries, mortgage payments, daily bills, and insurance premium payments.

Those of you who know Gordy know that he has a huge heart, an infectious smile, and an enormous amount of love for his family and friends! He and his wife Cherryl met when they were teenagers in Tokyo, Japan and have been together 49 years!

This is our chance to help a wonderful man. Please help me in supporting Gordy while he combats this terrible disease. Every dollar makes a huge difference! Thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time
