Our 18 year old middle son, James, suffered a traumatic brain injury and an upper and lower broken jaw on May 13, 2015 in a moped accident. The complications that immediately followed include blindness in his left eye and a complete stroke on his right side. James was due to graduate from high school in three weeks and was looking forward to attending school in the fall for digital arts media in sound production. Following the rules of the road and wearing a helmet, James was driving his moped, traveling east on route 109 from Medfield to Westwood and was out looking to apply for a job. At the intersection where the Bubbling Brook Ice Cream is located, a young woman in a Jeep Cherokee waited for 3 cars to pass and then she took a left to turn onto North Street and instead she hit James. He flew onto her Jeep and his head was crushed by the passenger side windshield.

The first number of days following the accident and even for the initial weeks - the doctors were not certain whether or not James would live. He faced many trying days ahead in critical conition in a  medically induced coma, with a trach and a feeding tube. But by the grace of God and everyone's prayers - James Gordon walked OUT OF SPAULDING Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, July 17, 2015 with just a four prong cane! Miracles do happen! James' response has been incredible, "I am so lucky that GOD saved my life." He is now at home and is receiving out-patient therapy, physical therapy and speech and language therapy five days a week for the next six months. This is magnificent! We have our James at home!

Although Barry and I wanted to handle the expenses of the accident ourselves, we have been encouraged to set up a fund to give our friends and family an opportunity to donate to help us get out from under the medical bills that we are still incurring.  More importantly we want to help pave the way for James' uncertain future. The blindness in his left eye is permanent and only time will tell what the extent of the injuries from his brain trauma and stroke will be.

Our family is overwhelmed by the love and support from the prayers, cards, calls, emails, texts, visits, meals, and the donations we have received.  And if you are able, of course we are humbly grateful for your financial gift. Thank you for your love and support through these challenging times. And we ask for your continued prayers.

Love, the Gordon family
