On 2/23/18 my fiancee and I were drivng home from dinner in Lafeyette, CO when we witnessed a car slide through a redlight and collide with a Honda CRV with 2 elderly folk inside. We quickly pulled over 200ft from the accident, put our flashers on and ran to the scene. The gentleman was able to get out of his car but his fraile and elderly wife needed our help. Just as we helped her out of the car on oncoming truck saw the accident to late and swerved. Upon his avoiding of the first accident he slid and collided with another car and totalled my finacee's parked car.
Of course this accident was not our fault and we are proud of ourselves for stopping to help.
We expect to get about $1000.00 USD from insurance for her car because that is what it is worth on Kelly Blue Book. This is nowhere near enough to buy another used car.
My fiance has been out of college for 2 years and has given any extra money she has earned to her student loans. Her savings is not nearly enough to buy another car even with the insuance money and her tax return. She is planning on taking out another student loan to go to nursing school so she can't imagine taking out yet another to buy a car. I have offered to help and so has my mother. She is having a hard time accepting it. I know that if we raise the money here and don't tell my proud, great hearted fiancee about this she will accept it with undying gratitude and thanks.
We are raising this money to buy her a used toyota prius so that she can save more money on gas in years to come.
Ideally we would need the funds by 3/12/18 but if it takes more time to get what we need we will leave this page up.
