Goods stolen from family-run gift shop on the IOW
At 2:30am on Sunday 10th November, a masked youth broke into our family gift shop, smashing the window in and stealing £4,000 worth of stock, in the form of eCigarettes and vape liquid. In total, he entered the shop twice, also at 4:07am, when he came back after emptying his rucksack to collect more.
My shop in Sandown has been broken into 3 times now in 5 months. The first time the window was smashed, but the thieves could not get in. We paid for a new window. The second time, it was smashed once again and we paid for yet another new window (once again they did not get in). This time however, they succeeded, meaning that we have to replace the door,as well as the stock.
We have insurance in place but the excess just goes up and up every time and does not cover everything
We would like to invest in monitored security alarms to prevent it from happening again, but this is not cheap and we are still feeling the hit from previous break-ins.
We would really appreciate any support at this difficult time!
