Nothing could have prepared us for a reality even more horrible than the pictures. The bloody opening was the size of a golf ball. This poor pup was in so much pain and running a fever. He couldn’t sit. Who knows if and how he could poop as the location was right next to his tail. He was constantly trying to get at it so his cone was covered in blood too. The shelter gave him some pain meds to get him through the ride and we hit the rode during Thursday rush-hour to Animal Medical Center in West L.A. The staff there were in shock as well.
Dr. Shulman operated yesterday to try to remove the tumor. It is in a tough place but we hope there can be some relief for him. If it can be done, we will return him to a normal life but if it is cancer, he will know love and comfort for as long as he has. For now he is sleeping off the procedure.
Once again we are coming to our friends to ask for love, prayers and help covering his vet bills. We have committed to do what we can for him but it comes at a very high cost. This baby is the worst of 4 other tough cases we’ve taken in this month so far.
Thank you so much for always being there for dogs like August.
