GOING THE DISTANCE FOR MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH

BRUCE TRAIL END TO END- 900 KM
Fundraising 10$ per walked kilometer for men's mental health.

Imagine: Your life is a revolving shit show, a perpetual dumpster fire, nothing seems to make it better, so you’d rather crawl in a hole and never get out, so you don’t have top deal with it. Turns out you don’t have to imagine that after all, either you’re there right now or were previously. If you think this won’t happen to you, Stand by. Everyone gets there, sooner or later. What to do when you get there and how to get out of it? My escape tactic: take a hike. Walking saved me more times than I care to remember.

Life is good at kicking you in the face, but it doesn't matter what happened, the response is the same: get up, lace up, move out and walk that weak shit off. If that's 10 mins or 10 km who cares, go whatever distance you must do to hit that reset. Have you ever gone for a walk and have said to yourself, dam I’m more mad or feel worse now then when I left? doubt it, if you have go longer. there's an art and science to it. taking a hike works.

“Walking it off” might not be enough to save the situation in that immediate moment but it psychologically represents forward momentum, to move on, to push forward, to just keep moving.  That's what worked for me.

That might not be enough, sometimes harder problems can’t be solved by walking it off or having a support of solid friends group. Professional help is required, and that can be a barrier to entry. Therefore: I’m willing to walk the Bruce Trail End 2 End, 950 km across Ontario for 30 days. I’m willing to challenge myself into the unknown, the uncomfortable, the cold wet, the hot and dry and be borderline miserable because if I can do this ill have a point in place and time where I OVERCAME what was frightening AF and seemingly impossible and be a better, more resilient person for it but not do this only for myself but in a way where others can benefit from it.

What can you challenge yourself to? can you challenge yourself to move? to overcome you?
Now that you overcame you, can you do something for another? Can you see a brother in need? can you lend out a hand?

Life is a team effort here; this is for the boys.
